Default Please help - quick newbie install question!

I too, also received one for Christmas, the EL8A, and I too am a little confused by the high level vs. RCA. My deck is the Premier DEH-66DH, and it has 4 output jacks on the rear with female connectors. I guess my question is basically do I go buy and attach some RCA male plugs to the wires and install them in the rear of the deck, or if not, then what is the best way to connect?

Thanks for putting up with us - just don't want to blow up the gift!! Just installed 4 new speakers in my pickup which was pretty easy, but this wiring bit with the high and RCA input I was not sure about. Plus there are RCA blue jacks in the wiring, but they are also female connectors as well. Argh.

Thanks!

Yes, buy a set of RCA's and connect one end to the deck and one to the tube (low level inputs). If your deck has a set of RCA's for subwoofers, use them...that way you will be able to control the volume of the tubes from the deck independently of the other speakers. RCA's (Low level) are the preferred way to install when possible rather than high level (tapping into the speaker wires). Somce people just seem to run into problems with RCA's when the voltage output is too high from the deck for the tube. You will want to run the orange wire from the tube to the deck's amplifier turn-on lead too.

yes run RCAs...both ends being "female" is the typical way things go. when you buy your RCAs, they will be "male" at both ends....that's just how it goes in the stereo world.

Ok, thanks - the RCAs seemed logical and the way to go, but then when I read about all the high level inputs and that I should go that way, I was a little confused. Guess RCAs are the right choice after all...

you would only use the high level if you were hooking it up to a stock unit without RCAs....Bazooka just gave a second hook-up option.
